The Shiitake mushroom, also called "Elixir of life", is an edible mushroom with multiple healing properties. It has been used for centuries as a folk remedy in the Far East. It is also known as Chinese black mushroom or Black forest mushroom. Shiitake can be found also in our forests and it is known to us as Húževnatec jedlý (Lentinula edodes).

Shiitake is very useful for treating upper respiratory diseases, poor blood circulation, liver problems, exhaustion, and weakness. It stimulates and enhances the immune system. Shiitake has antibacterial and antiviral effects It increases resistance to influenza, encephalitis and other viral and bacterial infections. According to the recent studies it is efficient against HIV and bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, so-called Koch´s bacterium. Not in vain is Shiitake also referred to as "virus killer". Evidenced has also been its property to lower the clotting of blood platelets.

Lentinan is a compound (polysaccharide) isolated from Shiitake, and is used as an intravenous anti-cancer agent. It is useful especially for treating cancer of stomach, liver, pancreas, lungs and colorectal cancer. It stimulates the formation of T-lymphocytes which also increase the efficiency of macrophages capable of engulfing unwanted particles, thus having a strong anti-tumour effect and stopping the destructive activity of viruses. An AHCC is an alpha-glucan and has antioxidant effect and is also used by patients with cancer. Shiitake can protect liver and help with liver recovery as well, especially thanks to "beta-glucan".

Beta-glucan contained in Shiitake is a unique, natural and complex polysaccharide able to support the defence reactions of the organism against bacteria and parasites. It activates macrophages to eliminate cells damaged by radiation, works as a strong antioxidant discharging all harmful substances out of the body. It also secures a thorough detoxication of the body. Beta-glucan improves blood formation, lowers cholesterol and normalises the blood sugar level. Eritadenine is a substance contained in Shiitake which lowers the cholesterol level in blood and participates in decreasing the blood pressure.

Usage: 1 tablet 3 times a day. The effects of the treatment rise over time, therefore it is recommended to administer Shiitake for a period of 1-2 months and to repeat the treatment 2-3 times a year.
